HOW TO HANDLE THREATS OR HARASSMENT
1. Stay Calm and Assess the Situation:
- Don’t panic: Try to remain calm so you can deal with the situation reasonably and effectively.
- Assess the level of danger: If the harasser is only using words, you might handle it by staying silent or walking away. If there are signs of violence, prepare to protect yourself.
2. Step Back and Find a Way to Get Away:
- Leave the dangerous area: If you feel unsafe, quietly exit the area as quickly as possible.
- Head to a crowded place: Move toward places with more people, like a café, store, or areas with guards or security staff.
3. Respond by Calling for Help:
- Shout to attract attention: If you feel seriously threatened, call for help. This may draw support from people nearby.
- Speak clearly and firmly: If possible, ask the harasser to stop their behavior clearly and strongly, for example: “I don’t want you to do that, stay away from me.”
4. Remember Characteristics and Warn Others:
- Note identifying features: If you can, remember the person’s characteristics (height, clothing, voice, tattoos, etc.). This will help you give an accurate report if needed.
- Alert those around you: If you feel threatened, let nearby people, store employees, or security staff know so they can assist you.
5. Use Personal Safety Tools:
- Carry self-defense items: Protective tools such as pepper spray, alarms, or other legal self-defense items can help you stay safe.
- Keep your phone ready: Have your phone in hand so you can call the police or a family member if needed. If possible, record audio or video as evidence.
6. Call the Police or Security Forces:
- Contact the police immediately: If the situation becomes serious or you can’t handle it yourself, call the police right away. Provide detailed information about the location and the harasser’s appearance.
- Report to nearby security personnel: If you are in a place with security, don’t hesitate to ask them to intervene.
7. Use Technology:
- Record the incident: If you have a phone, record audio or video of the harasser’s actions as evidence.
- Share your location with loved ones: If possible, share your location with friends or family using location-sharing apps.
8. Psychological and Emotional Support:
- Talk to family or friends: After the incident, don’t hesitate to share your feelings and the situation with loved ones to receive emotional support.
- Seek professional help if needed: If you continue to feel scared or anxious, consider speaking with a mental health professional for support.

The important thing is to protect your own safety and not let the harassment affect your mental well-being for too long by enduring it alone. When facing such situations, don’t hesitate to seek help from those around you and from the authorities.
